One aspect of life that has failed to benefit from today’s technology is our healthcare record system. Individual hospitals keeping isolated islands of healthcare data for their patients without sharing it has held back the progress and breakthroughs we could have witnessed in the global healthcare system. After all, the most important tool for scientific breakthroughs is the availability of analyzable data. That is where EHC comes into play. Ecosystem Health Chain is an ambitious project built using the blockchain technology that is focused on data security, privacy, and data exchange between institutions of healthcare around the globe.
Centralized Medical Data
In the current healthcare industry, there is still no complete and sustainable business model for medical data. Third party collectors who use it to develop their own business and turn profits mainly hold the majority of medical data today. The common users or patients who contribute to this data get no part of said profits. This practice removes the incentive of user data submission and muddies the data transparency. The centralized organizations are prone to raise their own bottom line and have to regard for data privacy and security if they can cut costs and raise profits.
A New Centralized System
EHC (Ecosystem Health Chain) is an effort to decentralize the healthcare ecology and take it out of the hands of for-profit organizations. Technically, EHC is a big data processing center. It is able to continuously collect, sort out, distribute and transmit health data of users and store it in the EHC CARE platform. Any user can upload their own data and view it anywhere and anytime they want. EHC also comes with health management plans exclusively built for users by the third-party service providers connected to their platform.
Privacy & Security
A big concern for users is the privacy of their medical data. EHC has tackled this issue by giving the users back the power to share or protect their data from public access. Any health data has two states, ‘LOCK’ and ‘UNLOCK’. A user’s data will only be made available to third-party health care plan providers used in medical research and analysis to recommend treatments if the user marks their data ‘UNLOCKED’. Data security is ensured via the checks of the underlying blockchain technology as well as artificial intelligence and encrypted algorithms. This helps improve the accuracy of the data and save it from tampering and manipulation.
Token Economy
However, perhaps the biggest incentive lies in the use of token economy specific to the blockchain. When users choose to ‘UNLOCK’ their data for third-party access, they will receive incentives for their data. They will also be able to reduce the cost of healthcare management via self-management. This will encourage user’s participation on the platform by allowing them to attain health care management services through tokens they earn through the EHC’s platform.
