Adrian Labbe, a 14-year-old Swiss developer, living in Chile has developed the app called ‘Luade’ and recently announced its launch on App Store. The app can be used to run Lua code on iPhone and iPad for executing various commands. This app allows the programmers to code Lua with default libraries like “io” and full REPL. The user can use their own modules to import them from their scripts.
Adrian has been developing iOS apps with Swift for 3 years and with his new app ‘Luade’, he enables anyone to run Lua scrips on their device even while being offline. Considering that iOS sandbox doesn’t prevent the user from programming, Adrian provides the user with a well-designed app and system integrated tools for programming from an iOS device. Adrian has created many apps for programmers that can connect to an SSH and SFTP server, edit Markdown, run basic shell commands and even code Python and Lua. A list of these apps is available on this web page.
Lua is a popular and powerful programming language that can be used to execute commands and embed into the applications. It is one of the most lightweight scripting languages and can be used for all sorts of applications such as games, image processing, and web applications among others.
Lua is a fast programming language as it maps very closely to C. Also because there are no standard libraries, Lua can be customized to the developer’s needs and preferences. As a whole, it is a small language which makes it easier for anyone to learn and understand.
Adrian continuously works to update the apps and make further improvements in them. He is also working to develop more apps. Moreover, all of his apps are open source so one can learn and contribute to them.
Luade app requires iOS 12.1 or later. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The app is available for a price of $2.99 on App Store.
