Sandy, Utah – The popular #LightTheWorld campaign from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints asks people to take the 25 days leading up to Christmas and turn it into a season of service, lifting and helping others in small and simple ways.
A Act of Love Adoptions has contributed in making 2018 Christmas an amazing one for the needy particularly refugees in the Utah community. A Act of Love Adoptions was part of the 2018 #LightTheWorld campaign with the staff of the charitable organization collecting food and clothing for the needy. The act is in line with the organization’s goal of making the world a better place and in accordance with the essence of Christmas – sharing and loving.
Christmas is a season for people to merry and rejoice, while also sharing and making people happy. Unfortunately, many people across the globe do not spend time in merriment due to several reasons. One of the categories of the needy that do not enjoy Christmas and the celebrations associated with the season are refugees. Unfortunately, one of the states with a large number of refugees is Utah. Consequently, Latter-day Saints organized the #LightTheWorld campaign to make refugees feel loved and also the Christmas.
Utah has a number of refugees from other countries who reside in the Salt Lake City area. The staff of A Act of Love Adoptions participated in the Christmas Service project as part of the organization’s community involvement. The project involved the collection of food and clothing for some of the refugees in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas.
“Each year, during the holiday season, people around the globe have found countless ways to make a difference in people’s lives,” said Elder Brent H. Nielson, a senior leader for the Church.
“We are excited to offer new opportunities this Christmas to spread joy, hope, and love in a world that needs the light of Christ.”
This project has brought not only joy to those in need but it has given the A Act of Love Adoption staff and friends great joy and peace in serving and lifting those in need in the community.
