Shawnee, Kansas –<\/strong> Ridgebrook Capital Partners are proud to announce the Friday, December 6, 2018 grand opening of the Golden Oaks Memory Care Home in Shawnee, Kansas – a 5,000 square-foot home providing safe, loving care for 12 seniors diagnosed with dementia.<\/p>\n

The Shawnee Memory Care Home is the first facility for Golden Oaks, a company which was founded in 2017 by Ridgebrook Capital Partners.<\/p>\n

For several months prior to the December opening, Golden Oaks renovated the single-family home to fit the needs of a group home facility. It was made ADA-accessible and a 2,000 square-foot wing was added to the back. Located in a well-maintained residential downtown neighborhood, Golden Oaks provides 12 bedrooms, six individual bathrooms, two spa bathrooms and a wellness center, among other amenities.<\/p>\n

The staff includes a medical director, nurse, certified medical assistants and maintenance worker. Security is enhanced by 25 security cameras around the home. The decoration of the home is evolving, as residents settle in, bringing family photos and mementos with them to grace the walls.<\/p>\n

The establishment of memory care homes in Shawnee – a suburb of Kansas City – reflects a growing need for such facilities around the United States: Pew research stated, “Today, and for every day for the next 19 years, 10,000 baby boomers will reach age 65.”<\/p>\n

Indoor and outdoor activities for the residents will include music – an effective memory stimulator – gardening, pet therapy, painting and other personal interests of the seniors.<\/p>\n

Ridgebrook plans to build more memory care homes in the Kansas City area in the future, but right now, it just wants to focus on making the Golden Oaks Shawnee facility great – and a model for all that is to come.<\/p>\n
