On a recent episode of Amazing Women and Men Of Power – Raven International TV Network with Host Raven Blair Glover, Dr. Karen Wilson-Starks<\/strong>, Leadership Transformation Expert<\/strong>, talked about why she started her new podcast The Voice of Leadership, and why she chose to examine and highlight the leadership style of Dr. Martin Luther Kings.<\/p>\n

Through her company, TRANSLEADERSHIP, INC<\/strong>., Dr. Karen consults with and prepares executives and their teams to best achieve the organization’s mission and to create dynamic organizational results. TRANSLEADERSHIP, INC creates opportunities for leaders and their teams to grow, learn and transform themselves and their organizations for a higher purpose, greater success, and enhanced impact.<\/p>\n

When host Raven Blair Glover asked Dr. Karen about her decision to start a podcast, Dr. Karen said, “I think many leaders today are accessing information through the podcast format. One, because it’s easy, portable, and they can take it wherever they go. You don’t have to watch it, you can just listen.”  Her podcasts are relatively short because her objective is to give people practical and actionable tips they can immediately implement in their business.<\/p>\n

When asked what made her choose Dr. Martin Luther King for her inaugural Shows, Dr. Karen said: “Dr. Martin Luther King has been one of my favorite people for a long time and the primary reason is because of his ability to inspire people. He spoke in a way that was very visual and moved people to act.” On each day of this seven-part series, she will focus on a different aspect of Dr. King’s leadership style. For example, she will highlight his principled leadership, use of word pictures, and inclusive language that painted a vision for all people, not just African-Americans. “He was able to overcome tremendous odds, be courageous and keep moving anyway. I think there are aspects of that journey that are still relevant to workplace leaders today,” said Dr. Karen.<\/p>\n

Dr. Wilson-Starks founded TRANSLEADERSHIP, INC. in 1995 to bring values-based, confidential consulting services to senior leaders and executives of Fortune 1000 companies, the U.S. military and government, and non-profit organizations such as foundations, and faith-based institutions. Dr. Karen consults with executive clients and their organizations to effectively lead, change, launch and sustain high-performance teams and achieve mission results. She is the author of the book Lead Yourself First! The Senior Leader’s Guide to Engaging Your People for Greater Performance and Impact<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The interview concluded with Dr. Karen saying: “<\/strong>Life is not smooth, you’re going to go over some potholes and going over those potholes is the way to success.<\/strong>”<\/strong><\/p>\n
