Seven year old Sarah lives in a small town in Florida called Williville. There are no people of color in her home town, so she has never met anyone from a different racial background – she only knows them from TV. Her neighborhood only has one barber shop, one grocery store, one library, and one stop light. It’s not the most exciting place until things change when Angela, an African-American girl, and her family move to the neighborhood. As Sarah is naturally curious, she wants to know more about Angela. They end up going to the same school, and to her dismay, Sarah learns that Angela isn’t treated the same way as others. She’s often on her own and Sarah wants to change this.<\/p>\n

The author would like them to known that they are special and don’t have to look like or be like anyone else. It is a lovely story about acceptance and real friendship that looks beyond color.
