Archie is a clever, but scruffy boy. His adventure begins on Scotland’s wild West Coast, and begins when he discovers an ancient supernatural set of bagpipes. The instrument is capable of  truly impossible things. The music it makes is so powerful that it  changes the course of history. Archie soon learns that it’s not the bagpipes but the chanter, the part of the bagpipes that makes the music,  that is supernatural. The chanter is probably more than 1,500 years old and yet still looks brand new. The name ‘chanter’ comes from the word ‘enchanter’ – and enchant is what it does. <\/p>\n

The entertaining supernatural novel “Archie and the Enchanter” by Alexander Weir is aimed at children between 8 – 12 years, but the young-at-heart will also enjoy it greatly, possibly while reading it with their kids or grandkids. The story teaches two lessons: music is more important than money and Scotland still has some unfinished business as an independent nation. It’s a fun read for children who love mysteries, fantasy and the Scottish landscape.<\/p>\n
