Miami’s role in the art world is expanding, but no one predicted it would give birth to a radical new type of art incorporating artificial intelligence, material science and technology capable of saving millions of lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sebastian Cuartas is the art director of Artem Scientia, a Miami-based art gallery promoting a better future for humanity through avant-garde, technology-driven artworks. Mr. Cuartas admits Miami is an unexpected place to introduce an artist like Dr. Obdulio Piloto, who’s also a prominent scientist. “In a way, it’s a small step towards countering closed minds. Most people like to buy ‘trends’, while a select few can appreciate groundbreaking artworks with layers of meaning and impact.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s rare to see local talent return to Miami, most people at Dr. Piloto’s level prefer to reside in cities like Silicon Valley, or Boston.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Miami acts as the capital for Latin America, and that’s why I’m here”, Cuartas points out, and adds, “Dr. Piloto’s art is unprecedented, his HOPE series utilizes contrasting before and after molecular portraits to illustrate humanity’s conquest over disease. The art collector who purchased the entire HOPE series wishes to not be named”, Cuartas mentioned, “I’ve personally seen the collection; Fernando Botero, Frank Stella, Damian Hirst and a few fun Warhols; he felt a Piloto made the perfect addition. His wife lost her battle to cancer and he understood the impact Dr. Piloto’s team could have on the world. The moment he saw the art, he understood this was a new movement.”<\/span><\/p>\n
