October 7, 2019 – BOSTON, Mass. –<\/strong> For parents whose children are being bullied, turning to a certified parent coach like Beth Greenawalt can be a wise alternative to navigating sensitive parent and peer relationships alone.<\/p>\n

As founder and owner of Milton-based Parent-Solutions<\/a>, responding to bullying is just one of the ways Greenawalt helps parents. In one of two recent interviews on Boston 25 News WFXT-TV, she advised parents to listen first, then calmly collaborate with their child.<\/p>\n

“Your heart can be racing. Your throat can be closing up. You can feel rage or hurt. Just listen and then once you’re a little calmer, you can think of ways you may want to approach this. Discuss it with your child and move forward with it,” she said.<\/p>\n

October is National Bullying Prevention Month and, according to the National Center for Education Statistics<\/a>, more than one out of five students nationwide report being bullied. Whether it happens at school or online, the emotional, physical and mental consequences can be devastating for a child.<\/p>\n

Greenawalt also encouraged viewers to get involved in their child’s online life during a separate interview with the news program.<\/p>\n

She provided specific tips to help parents make technology work for, rather than against, them. Greenawalt said the start of a new school year is a perfect time for parents to establish new ground rules about device use and screen time.<\/p>\n
